Q: What are your hours?
A: We are located within (and own) Serendipity Cafe, so our hours are the cafe's hours, which can be found here: https://www.serendipitycafemaynard.com/hours.html
Q: I have food allergies...
A: Please let us know if you, or someone who will be enjoying our baked goodies has a food allergy. We take food allergy concerns very seriously. More info can be found here: FOOD ALLERGIES
Q: I've noticed you list many of your products as vegan, what does that mean?
A: When we indicate that a product is "vegan" this means that it does not contain any animal products including dairy, eggs or honey. We also use best practices with all allergens so folks with food allergies to dairy or eggs often seek out vegan products.
Q: what do you do to give back to the community?
A: We recognize that our successes would not be possible without the support of our community, our friends & family. This is why we made a commitment from the start to identify at least one opportunity each year where we can donate of our baked goods, our time & talents, or both, to benefit a worthy cause. In 2010 we held a bake "sale" where 100% of donations went toward the fundraising goal of a good friend who was riding in the PMC. In 2011, we made donations to some of the organizations and groups in our community including donating cookies to an evening event at the Discovery Museums and cinnamon rolls to a Maynard Family Association brunch. Since many families support us at the Farmers' Markets we're happy to have the opportunity to donate to parts of our community that benefit families. In 2012 we participated in The 10th Annual Taste of Maynard which benefits the Maynard Education Foundation. We also donated a basket of baked goodies to the Green Meadow Elementary School PTO Spring Auction and to a bake sale at Laura's former place of employment to benefit Cradles to Crayons. We were happy to wrap up 2012 with what will hopefully become and annual donation to the MFA new baby brunch! 2013 marked our 2nd annual participation in Taste of Maynard and the Green Meadow Auction, and our third annual contribution of cinnamon rolls to the MFA brunch! We also donated baskets of goodies to the MFA's Halloween party, the silent auction at the inaugural Assabet Village Food Co-op fundraiser, and the Maynard Music Association. Most recently we donated cinnamon buns for the volunteers at the Beacon Santa Telethon. In addition, we started something new this season at our Farmers' Market stand and each week at the Maynard Farmers' Market we sold a "Community Bake Sale" item from which 100% of the proceeds were donated to a local organization that gives directly back to our community. Once we began our involvement with, and later ownership of Serendipity Cafe in 2013 we have continued to offer support and/or baked goodies or cafe gift cards where we can to organizations such as the Maynard Family Association (annual baked goods donation to new baby brunch), Assabet Village Food Co-op (hosted fundraiser at Serendipity), Maynard Music Association (Annual Program Advertisement), Maynard Education Foundation (Taste of Maynard participation 2012, 2013, 2015-2018 and gift card donation), Sudbury Valley Trustees (gift card donation), OARS (ticket sales & gift card donation), WAVM Beacon Santa Telethon (baked goods, monetary & auction item), and more!
We are still a relatively new business, and we do have a budget to stay within, so regrettably we cannot say yes to each one of the numerous donation and support requests that comes our way, that being said, if you have a donation request, please reach out to Laura at: SerendipityCafeMaynard@gmail.com for consideration.

Q: do your baked goods contain any white flour?
A: Many of you have asked if we use any "white flour" in our baked goods. We use organic 100% whole wheat flour in each and every baked good that we make. In many of our baked goods we also use an "all-purpose" flour. We chose to use an UNBLEACHED, unbromated All-Purpose Wheat Flour. We do not use ANY bleached or "white" flour products in ANY of our baked goods.
Q: someone told me your cinnamon buns and other products are gluten free, is that true?
A: Sorry to disappoint you, but we want to make it abundantly clear that this is NOT TRUE! Our cinnamon buns are made WITH WHEAT! To be honest, we're a little concerned as we're not sure the root of this particular "rumor"...Please know that it's not that we don't love you gluten free folks, too, but above anything your safety is our top concern. We've enjoyed talking with and getting to know many of you, and as many of you know already, one of the reasons we don't presently offer any gluten free products as we cannot guarantee that they can be safely segregated from the wheat we use in our kitchen and on our equipment.
