We are happy to help you in any way that we safely can!
We are happy to help you in any way that we safely can!
OUR FOOD ALLERGY, FOOD SENSITIVITY AND DIETARY PREFERENCE MISSION STATEMENT:
Whether you have been diagnosed with food allergies or sensitivities, choose a specific dietary preference, or you just like knowing exactly what is in your food we are happy to help you in anyway that we safely can.
We pride ourselves on being very conscious of what is going into the food we eat on a personal basis and the products we make for you!
We want those of you with allergy concerns to know that we understand.
Laura was diagnosed with an allergy to soy and peanuts back in 2000 and we know first hand what it's like to live with food allergies and always have to wonder if it's safe to eat something that you didn't prepare yourself.
We will go above and beyond to try and accommodate anyone with food allergies, sensitivities, or dietary preferences and we take great care in our baking procedures to segregate any allergens as much as possible and use best practices in the order that we prepare our products.
In return, we ask you to please understand and respect that we will be quick to let you know that we cannot accommodate you if we cannot guarantee that it be done SAFELY.......This is one of many reasons for our continued hesitation in offering gluten free products. Due the the large volume of wheat we use, as well the small space and limited equipment both in our original home Residential Kitchen, and now at Serendipity Cafe , we cannot exercise the level of segregation of ingredients that is needed to accommodate those with celiac disease or any SEVERE food allergy concern. In addition to wheat, we do use products containing milk, eggs, and tree nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, coconut) in our kitchen.
As much as we want to be your baked goods provider, your safety comes above all else!!
So what does all this mean?
1. If you have a severe allergy or food concern please talk to us directly in person at Serendipity Cafe, the Farmers' Market or via email at: [email protected] so we can address your concern individually.
Do not hesitate to contact us we are HAPPY TO HELP!!
2. We always take care to process products with the common food allergens after products without them. For example when we make our bread, we start with our Vegan products, move onto our Dairy Free products, and then process the remainder of our baked goods which include dairy. When making cookies, we start with our cookies that do not contain nuts or almond butter, and then move onto the ones that do.
3.PEANUTS: As peanuts are one of the most notorious, and notoriously dangerous food allergens this is what you need to know: None of our products use peanuts, peanut butter or peanut products and we do not have peanut butter, peanuts, or any peanut product in our Residential kitchen, or within Serendipity Cafe at all. However some of the ingredients we use in our products (such as the other nut products) are labeled to indicate that they are processed on shared equipment with peanuts and other allergens.
